The primary function of the knee pad is to prevent the user from sliding off the forward sloping seat.
Despite the name, the knees do not bear all the weight when sitting on a kneeling chair. Only approximately 20% of the bodyweight is supported by the shins (not the knees), to provide a second point of contact with the bodys weight distributed amongst the spine, thighs and shins. As a result, the Wellback Kneeling Chair provides comfortable seating, whilst maintaining correct posture and alignment.
